JG Black Book of Travel's personal Paris consultante, Paloma, reports back on two of the newest European members of the Black Book Collection by JG.
While strolling on the Champs Elysées, past Ladurée and Louis Vuitton, stop a few blocks before L’Arc de Triomphe and take a right onto the steep, narrow rue Balzac. There, amongst Haussman’s quintessential Parisian stone buildings, with curved facades and romantic iron balconies, you will find two of JG Black Book of Travel’s newest partners: Hotel Balzac and Hotel de Vigny.
Paloma at Hotel Balzac
Hotel Balzac, once home to French novelist Honore de Balzac, has maintained the elegance of an upper class, 19th century Parisian town house. With its chic neo-classical décor, the intimate Hotel Balzac offers 57 rooms and 13 suites. From the third floor up, rooms boast a postcard-esque view of the Tour Eiffel. The rooftop penthouse, which comprises the entire top floor of the hotel, is a painter’s fantasy, with its breath taking panoramic layout of Paris.
Lounge at Hotel Balzac
Downstairs, beside the inviting lobby with its warm tones of red and gold, is a charming dining room filled with natural light from the glass atrium. The long black granite bar that stretches alongside the restaurant is the ideal spot for a late afternoon cocktail and relaxation.
Hotel de Vigny
One block from Hotel Balzac, on the same cobblestone street lined with motorcycles and compact Peugots, is another new member of the Black Book Collection by JG, Hotel de Vigny. Although seemingly more modern by the looks of Hotel de Vigny’s exterior, the luxury boutique hotel preserves a classic Parisian atmosphere. With 26 guestrooms and 11 suites, each decorated with antique furniture and marble baths, Hotel de Vigny also offers a more quaint, personal hotel experience.
Le Baretto at Hotel de Vigny
As for dining, Hotel de Vigny features its own top-rated restaurant, Le Baretto. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Art Deco dining area is the ultimate way to start or end one’s day with refined French cuisine.
Just minutes from one of the city’s main metro lines, guests at both Hotel Balzac and Hotel de Vigny benefit from easy access to all of Paris’ enchanting neighborhoods giving guests the ultimate experience of la vie en rose.
