Greg Wilshire, JG Black Book of Travel's Adventure Specialist, just returned from the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa where he spent a short stay with Black Book Collection member, Morukuru Family. Morukuru Family in South Africa
Greg stayed only a few short hours with the Morukuru Family but he didn't even need that to come up with 5 highlights of the Morukuru experience:
1. Just minutes after landing, we spotted the Madekwe Game Reserve's famous wild dogs.
2. In one day's worth of safari, we saw "the big 5"! The "big 5" include leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo and, of course, lion.
3. Because of Morukuru's unique location along the Kalahari Desert and the Botswana border, it's much warmer that many other game lodges during the winter season.
4. With the Morukuru Family, you are just that - part of the family. There were no menus, rather I was asked what I fancied for dinner. (I chose cream, pea and fussily pasta with duck and freshly squeezed juice.) And the lodge, though modern, is a cozy home - perfect for this time of year.
5. There's no better way to spend an African evening than around the campfire with a glass of champagne. Trust me.
